With Missy Elliott's first-rate production skills in their arsenal, US girl group 702 took the charts by storm with "Where My Girls At?" The 1999 anthem, which was originally written and produced by Elliott for TLC's third studio album FanMail, hit Number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was featured on the quartet-turned-trio's self-titled second studio album. Formed in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1993, 702 began life as a quartet comprising identical twins Irish and Orish Grinstead (born on June 2, 1980 in Houston, Texas), their older sister LeMisha Grinstead (born on June 10, 1978 in Houston, Texas), and Amelia Childs. When Childs and Orish Grinstead left shortly after the group's formation they were replaced by their classmates from the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts, Tiffany Villarreal and Kameelah Williams. Villarreal left six months later and the trio of Williams, Irish and LeMisha Grinstead released their gold-selling debut album, No Doubt, in 1996, with Missy Elliott lending a hand on four of the LP's tracks including hit single "Steelo," which reached Number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. The following year, 702 – named after their Las Vegas' area code – won the Best R&B/Soul Album prize for No Doubt at the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards. After the release of 702 in 1999, the group was nominated for an American Music Award and a BET Award, in 2000 and 2001 respectively. After a period of absences and lineup changes, 702 reconvened in 2003 to release their third album, Star, but disbanded in 2006. Original member Orish Grinstead died aged 27 on April 20, 2008 from kidney failure. In December 2013, 702 performed their first show in nearly 10 years.
