Tasha & Tracie

Tasha & Tracie, the Brazilian hip-hop duo composed of twin sisters Tasha and Tracie Okereke, have emerged as prominent voices in the music scene, blending rap with funk carioca and addressing themes of Black culture, self-expression, and life on the periphery. Born and raised in São Paulo’s North Zone, the sisters found early inspiration at the renowned Batalha de Santa Cruz rhyming battles but initially channeled their energy into DJing and content creation. After building a name in São Paulo's underground scene, they debuted as MCs with the single "Cachorra Kmikze," soon followed by their breakthrough EP Rouff (2019). The release gained a million streams, marking their ascent in Brazilian hip-hop. In 2020, their collaboration on "Tang" with rapper Kyan went viral, cementing their presence. Their follow-up EP Diretoria (2021) expanded their fanbase and led to collaborations with major artists like Gloria Groove, Djonga, and Ludmilla. By 2022, the duo was performing at Rock in Rio, Primavera Sound, and receiving recognition with nominations for the BET Hip Hop Awards and multiple Brazilian awards. In 2023, they launched their label Expensive Shit and released the EP Yin Yang, which featured the funk-laden Kyan collaboration "Desce Licor."
