The three Jonas brothers made it big in the Disney Channel movie Camp Rock in 2008, but they'd previously battled long and hard for their breakthrough. They evolved around youngest brother Nick, a child star of several Broadway shows, including Les Miserables and The Sound of Music who, at the age of 10, wrote his first professionally performed song with his dad. Joe and Kevin were also writing songs and the three of them joined forces in 2005, opening concerts for various acts, notably Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys, and The Veronicas. They were dropped by their label Columbia after just one album but when they were signed to Hollywood Records, promoted by extensive TV exposure on the Disney Channel, their fortunes dramatically improved. They performed with Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana and had success with the album A Little Bit Longer before starring in Camp Rock turned them into teen pin-ups. The Camp Rock soundtrack went to Number 3 on the Billboard 200 and they embarked on their Burnin' Up Tour of North America; footage from the tour was turned into Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, released into cinemas in 2009. Their fourth album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, was released in 2009 and debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard 200, the Canadian Albums Chart, and several others around the world. Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam emerged in 2010 and, amid rumours of a split, Joe Jonas released his debut solo album. A hiatus was confirmed with Nick reviving How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway and Kevin starring in reality show Married to Jonas with his new wife Danielle. Within the series, the brothers were shown recording new material and in 2012 they embarked on a reunion tour in Russia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, ending at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The first single, "First Time," from their fifth album was released in June 2013, but shortly after, the group cancelled their their tour citing creative differences within the band. They officially confirmed their split in October 2013 before the album could be released. In 2019, they announced their reunion with the new single "Sucker," which went straight to number one in the Billboard Hot 100. This was followed later that year by the release of Happiness Begins, their third consecutive chart-topper on the US pop charts. The band spent the next couple of years touring the world and working on a follow-up to their fifth album, finally announcing the imminent release of their sixth LP The Album in 2023. Preceded by the singles "Wings" and "Waffle House," The Album peaked at Number 3 on both the Billboard 200 and the Official UK Albums Chart.
