Biografia

Lisa Gerrard is an Australian singer and composer of new age pop music who has performed and recorded with the group Dead Can Dance and collaborated on film scores with composers including Hans Zimmer, Marcello De Francisci, Jeff Rona and James Orr. Born in Melbourne, she played in local bands and from 1981 she sang with Dead Can Dance. They released several recordings but disbanded in 1998 although they have reunited for two other albums and tours over the years.

Gerard made her solo recording debut in 1995 with the album 'The Mirror Pool' and in 1998 she joined Australian keyboard player Pieter Bourke on 'Duality', which went to number three on Billboard's World Albums Chart. The two collaborated on the score for Michael Mann's 1999 feature 'The Insider' and in 2000 she joined Hans Zimmer to create the score for Ridley Scott's Academy Award-winning 'Gladiator', earning them a Golden Globe Award and Grammy nomination. She wrote the music for 'Whale Rider' (2003) and the soundtrack went to number nine on the World Chart. 'Immortal Memory' (2004) with Patrick Cassidy reached number 41 on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart. Her other film scores include 'A Thousand Roads' (2005) with Jeff Rona, 'Burning Man' (2011), 'Son of God' with Hans Zimmer, 'Jane Got a Gun' (2016) with Marcello De Francisci and '2:22' (2017) with James Orr.

Her solo album 'Silver Tree' (2007) went to number four on Billboard's New Age Albums Chart while 'Best of Lisa Gerard' (2008) and 'Twilight Kingdom' (2014) reached number five. Her 2018 release 'Hiraeth' also hit number five on the chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best New Age Album.
