Thuy Thi Thu Tran (born October 29, 1991), known monomosly as Thuy, is a Vietnamese American singer and songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in Newark, she discovered her passion for singing through family karaoke parties, gaining attention for her cover songs after sharing them on social media. Her original song "Hands on Me" won the KMEL 106.1's Home Turf contest in 2015, gaining her popularity in the Bay Area community. In 2017, her track "All Night Long" was only moderately success but found new popularity in 2020 when a slowed-down version surfaced on social media and went viral. In 2021, thuy released a series of singles leading to her debut EP, I Hope U See This, which she dropped on her birthday, which included her most popular single to date, titled "Universe". Following its release, thuy unveiled a deluxe version of the EP and commenced her first tour, featuring sold-out dates, showcasing her talent at prominent music festivals such as Outside Lands and Head in the Clouds in 2022. Later that year, thuy released her second EP, Girls Like Me Don't Cry, and embarked on a successful sold-out tour along the North American west coast. Her achievements led to being recognized as one of Vevo's DSCVR Artists to Watch in 2023. In March 2023, Thuy made her debut in the Vietnamese music market with a remix of title track "Girls Like De Don't Cry" featuring Min. The track achieved recognition on the Billboard Vietnam Hot 100, reaching number 9 as well as number 39 on the New Zealand Top 40 singles charts. In 2024, she performed at the Coachella festival and began recording the album Wings, including the singles "Hair Down" and "Cloud11".
