Septicflesh was formed in Greece in the early '90s by Sotiris Vayenas (guitar, clean vocals), Spiros Antoniou (bass and vocals), and Christos Antoniou (guitars). In 1991 a debut Ep was released entitled "Temple of The Lost Race". The first full-length album "Mystic Places of Dawn" was released in 1994, followed by "EΣΟΠΤΡΟΝ" in 1995. The group moved towards a more symphonic style with the release of "Ophidian Wheel" in 1997 and Natalie Rassoulis, a female soprano vocalist, was introduced. "A Fallen Temple", released in 1998, continued in the same musical direction. In 1999, the band collaborated for the first time with legendary producer Fredrik Nordström (Opeth, At the Gates, Archenemy, Dimmu Borgir, etc.) and the result was "Revolution DNA". The collaboration continued on the following album Sumerian Daemons that was released in 2003. Although the band's popularity was growing, the band members decided to disband it and focus on other personal projects and goals. But that wasn't the end of the story... In 2007 Septicflesh made a reunion appearance at that year's Metal Healing Festival in Greece. A new deal was signed with the French label Season of Mist and the band returned with "Communion" in 2008. This time the symphonic element was fully implemented in the structure of the songs, as the band collaborated for the first time with the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague. 80 classical musicians and a choir of 32 singers were involved in the recordings of this ambitious return. The band continued the development of a unique sound that combines symphonic cinematic music with Agressive Death Metal, releasing "The Great Mass" (2011) with Peter Tägtgren as producer, "Titan" (2014) with Logan Mader as producer and "Codex Omega" (2017) with Jens Bogren as producer. In 2020 the band released the recording of the epic and fully orchestrated live in Mexico "Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX" on CD/LP/DVD/Blu-Ray. Now, SEPTICFLESH has joined forces with Nuclear Blast Records and initiates the next phase in the band’s history, with a new album to be released in May 2022. Once again Jens Bogren is responsible for the bombastic mix and sound whereas Seth Siro Anton - who is also in charge for the visual aesthetics of the band and worked for artists like Nile, Paradise Lost or Moonspell - has crafted a really intense cover and over-the-top artwork for this release. The new songs impress with many layers, gloomy and empowering atmosphere while being heavy and memorable. Besides the continuous collaboration with the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague, the band used a full adult choir, a full children choir and a variety of ethnic instruments.
