With a thin frame caused by genetic disorder Marfan Syndrome, 6ft 4" occasionally cross-dressing Deerhunter front man Bradford Cox cuts a striking figure. An isolated high school outsider obsessed by music, he formed Deerhunter with Moses Archuleta after his parents divorced and left him alone in his childhood home. Adding sonic ambition to primal garage rock and roll, Deerhunter have evolved into one of the most talked-about new bands around, earning a fearsome live reputation through tours with Nine Inch Nails, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Smashing Pumpkins.

In 2004, bassist Justin Bosworth died of injuries sustained in a skateboarding accident, appearing on just one release, 'Deerhunter/Alphabets Split'. Their debut album 'Turn It Up Faggot' (2005) was named after a crowd heckle aimed at Cox, before second album 'Cryptograms' (2005) honed a reverb heavy, ambient punk sound. The psychedelic pop swirl of 'Microcastle' (2008) was greeted with rave reviews with the Pitchfork website naming it 50th in their Best Albums of the Decade list. Frequently releasing EPs and new material, Cox also records solo material under the name Atlas Sound.

Deerhunter album 'Halcyon Digest' followed in 2010 with 'Monomania' in 2013 and 'Fading Frontier' in 2015. Former bassist Josh Fauver died in 2018. The band revealed that work on their eighth album 'Why Hasn't Everything Already Disappeared?' was taking place for release in early 2019.
