Singer/guitarist Damian Kulash and bass player Tim Nordwind first met at Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan in 1986 when they were both 11, and went on to form OK Go with two school and college friends Andy Duncan and Dan Konopka in 1998. It was still four years before they had built a strong enough repertoire to release their energetic self-titled pop-rock debut album and initially found success in the UK with the single Get Over It. This and other tracks Do What You Want and Here It Goes Again got further exposure after being heavily featured in video games while Damian Kulash also became involved in a political campaign against the then President George W Bush. Second album Oh No marked the departure of guitarist Andy Duncan but helped establish them as a major front-line band; on the back of the single A Million Ways, eye-catching videos (A Million Ways reputedly became the most downloaded music video in history) and support tours with Panic At The Disco and Snow Patrol. By 2010 the band had formed their own label Paracadute to release their third studio album Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky, which, departing from the pop rock style of their previous output, was full of literary allusions, diffuse moods and a progressive concept.
