Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo, born on April 28, 1975 in Boston, Massachusetts, is an American Nigerian singer. Before her music career, she was a practicing pharmacist. Okoawo founded The Rock by Funk Tribe, blending poetry with various genres. Her debut solo album Black & Blues was released in 2004 through Phanai Records. In 2008, she released Hum the Bass Line, also on Phanai Records, and sang a cover of "Desire" by U2 for the compilation In The Name Of Love: Africa Celebrates U2. Okoawo collaborated with producer David Franz in 2009 to release two EPs. Her album Say Yes was released in November 2010 through Underground Sun, featuring the song "The Yellow Brick Road Song", used as the theme for the series Fairly Legal. She is a TEDGlobal Fellow and has conducted poetry workshops at various institutions.
