Jamie Woon, born Jamie Woon on March 29, 1983, in Greater London's New Malden, is a British singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist. Raised by his Scottish mother, Celtic singer Mae McKenna, and Malaysian Chinese father, Woon attended the BRIT School, graduating the year behind Amy Winehouse. His early releases included the Wayfaring Stranger EP in 2007 and the breakthrough single "Night Air" in 2010, which gained widespread acclaim and was co-produced by Burial. Woon's sound is characterized by soul-inflected vocals backed by samplers and programming, or a single guitar track. He describes his music as "... R&B, it's groove-based vocal-led music ..." On January 4, 2011, the BBC announced that Woon had been placed fourth in the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll. Woon's debut album, Mirrorwriting, was released on April 18, 2011, via Polydor Records. The album featured notable singles such as "Lady Luck". In 2015, Woon collaborated with Portico for their album Living Fields and released his second studio album, Making Time. Notable singles from this period include "Sharpness" and "Skin". After a decade of silence, two new singles appeared in July 2025, "Heavy Going..." and "A Velvet Rope", soon followed by the third full-length 3, 10, Why, When, in October.
