Young Chang MC

Born in Paris on June 15, 1988 into a family originally from Guadeloupe, Yoni Sama, aka Young Chang MC, is a French dancehall singer and rapper. He grew up in Guadeloupe, where his parents returned when he was six, and immersed himself in Caribbean rhythms, from zouk to kompa. Following in the footsteps of his brother and sister, known for having formed the duo David et Corine in the 1980s, he began writing his own songs, and in 2006 collaborated with the group Génésiz on their album 100 Zanmi. Two years later, he launched the weekly Lyrics de la semaine series on his video channel, attracting millions of views every Wednesday. After the release of the album En Forme in 2010 came the reissue En Forme Match Retour (2011) and the hit "Chokola vany", followed by other singles leaning more towards rap or R&B, such as the albums Boomerang (2017) and Faim de Promenade (2021), recorded on his release from prison, where he was incarcerated for eleven years for kidnapping and kidnapping. A new stint behind bars precedes the 2024 release of the hit "Pas de soleil", ranked No. 27 in the French overseas charts.
