At 18, Ernesto composed his first film score, La Risa de la Ciudad, featuring his piano theme River of Dreams, which won Best Background Music at the Cartagena Festival. Since then, he wrote scores for over 500 Mexican films.
He performed across 25 countries for world leaders such as President Menem of Argentina and Nikita Khrushchev of the USSR, in venues including The Kremlin and The Mexican Presidential House. His performances were admired by Charlton Heston, Danny DeVito, Michael Bolton, Octavio Paz, and The Rolling Stones.
