Pierce the Veil are an American rock band from San Diego, California who were formed in 2006 from the ashes of Before Today, a band of brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes who released one album with the group prior to breaking up. The two brothers formed Pierce the Veil along with guitarist Tony Perry and bass player Jaime Preciado.
The band's early style owed much to emo and post hardcore bands such as Emarosa, Chiodos and Alesana. Their debut album was the 2007 release 'A Flair for the Dramatic' which, after being well received by critics went to number 61 in the US Heatseeker Charts. Their second album 'Selfish Machines' marked a change in direction for the band and was more melodic introducing some progressive rock influences. Pierce the Veil's breakthrough came in 2011 upon the release of their third album 'Collide With the Sky' which spawned the hit single 'King for a Day' and went on to sell more than half a million units. In 2017 drummer Mike Fuentes left the band following accusations of sexual misconduct by a female fan and after a short hiatus the band re-emerged as a three-piece.
