Born on 15 July 1990, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, UK singer, actor and LGBTQIA+ activist Olly Alexander first gained recognition as the lead vocalist of the synth-pop trio Years & Years with whom he scored two chart-topping UK albums. In 2021, he achieved critical acclaim for his role as Ritchie Toze in the hit Channel 4 series It's a Sin, nominated for Best Actor in a Movie/Miniseries at the Critics' Choice Television Awards and for Best Actor at the British Academy Television Awards. Years & Years parted ways in December 2023 and their back catalogue has since been re-listed under the name "Olly Alexander (Years & Years)". In January 2024, Olly Alexander, who is non-binary and uses he/him pronouns, stepped out with his first post-Years & Years solo release, "Dizzy," with which he is set to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden. In February 2025, Olly Alexander released his first album under his own name. Polari draws titular inspiration from the 20th-century language and was teased by the first single "Cupid's Bow" in October 2024.
