Diego Andrés González Boneta (November 29, 1990) is a Mexican actor and singer. Born and raised in Mexico City, he first jumped to fame in 2005 through his involvement in the teenage telenovela Rebelde. That same year, Diego Boneta issued his studio debut, simply titled Diego, which enjoyed great success throughout Latin America thanks to the single “Responde,” an adaptation of Lynda Thomas’ “A Mil Por Hora.” A Portuguese version of the album saw the light the following year as the singer embarked on an international tour with Mexican pop group RBD. Indigo, his sophomore effort, arrived in 2008 and spawned the singles “Losing Me” and “Perdido En Tí.” In the following years, Diego Boneta fully devoted himself to his acting career, landing lead roles in the films Rock of Ages (2012), City of Dead Men (2014), and Eden (2015), and the TV series The Dovekeepers (2015), and Scream Queens (2015). In 2017, it was confirmed that he would play iconic Mexican singer Luis Miguel on Netflix’s bio-musical series Luis Miguel: The Series. Apart from playing the lead role, Diego Boneta also contributed to the show’s original soundtrack, covering some of the singer’s most famous hits - “Suave,” “Hasta Que Me Olvides,” and “Ayer” were all released as singles in 2021 and capitalized on the series’ massive popularity.
