Hideki Taniuchi is a Japanese composer, arranger, and guitarist born on November 15, 1972, in Hokkaido. He began his career as the guitarist for the rock band Shocking Lemon, which contributed opening theme songs to the anime series Hajime no Ippo before the group became inactive in 2007. Taniuchi transitioned into television composition, scoring the "Heian Arc" of Otogi Zoshi (2004–2005) and Akagi: Yami ni Maiorita Tensai (2005–2006). Between 2006 and 2007, he co-composed the soundtrack for Death Note with Yoshihisa Hirano. His subsequent works include Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor (2007–2008), Real Drive (2008), and Aoi Bungaku (2009). Taniuchi returned to the Kaiji franchise in 2011 to compose the score for Kaiji: Against All Rules. In May 2012, Taniuchi was arrested in Kanagawa Prefecture on charges of marijuana possession.
