Charlene Soraia Santaniello Jones, known as Charlene Soraia, is an English singer-songwriter born in Sydenham, London Borough of Lewisham, on 19 July 1988. She began playing guitar at age five and performed her first show at eight, drawing inspiration from artists such as David Bowie, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and King Crimson. While attending the BRIT School, she formed a rock band called Retrospect and released an EP titled Long Hair, Short Memories. She also joined Electriq Mistress, a psychedelic blues band, and released solo EPs, including Daffodils and Other Idylls (March 2008) and Postcards from iO. Her breakthrough came in 2011 when her cover of The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go" was featured in a Twinings commercial. The song reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart, leading to the release of her debut studio album, Moonchild, in November 2011. She released her second studio album, Love Is the Law, in September 2015, featuring singles such as "Ghost" and "Broken".
