Biography

The American country and bluegrass singer Patty Loveless was born Patricia Ramey in Pikeville, Kentucky in 1957. During her long and successful career, she has received two Grammy Awards and numerous industry accolades. She has also had five number one singles, four platinum albums and sold over 15 million records in the process.

As a teenager the artist watched her older brother and sister, Roger and Dottie, performing in their band known as the Swinging Rameys and this laid the foundations for her future ambitions. When Dottie retired from live performances in 1969, Patty took her place and slowly began to build up her experience and stagecraft. For a period in the late '70s and early '80s Ramey moved to North Carolina and performed rock covers with her first husband, Terry Lovelace, until eventually returning to Nashville and starting out on what was to become a successful career as a country singer.

In 2005 after recording the album 'Dreamin' My Dreams' her record company Epic closed the doors on its Nashville operation and Ramey took a short break from the music business. Her most recent album is the Grammy Award-winning 'Blue Mountain Soul II' which she released in 2009.
