The pop singer Michelle, real name Tanja Gisela Hewe, was born on February 15, 1972 in Villingen-Schwenningen. At the age of 14, she was already singing in a local band. She later joins Südwestfunk, where she makes her first public appearance. There she discovers the pop singer Kristina Bach. The composer Jean Frankfurter then writes and produces the first single "Und heut' Nacht will ich tanzen" for Michelle in 1993. The song becomes a success in the pop parades. Michelle then appeared on the TV program ZDF-Hitparade. This is followed by further recordings and appearances on radio and television. In 1999, she was awarded the Echo music prize in the "Schlager Artist of the Year" category. Two years later, Michelle entered the Eurovision Song Contest for Germany and came eighth with "Wer Liebe lebt" . After a minor stroke in 2003, followed by depression and personal bankruptcy, Michelle made a successful comeback. In spring 2005, the album Leben is released, which goes gold within a few weeks. A year later, her album Glas remained in the German charts for a further six weeks. A renewed retreat into private life is followed in 2009 by the studio album Goodbye Michelle and an appearance on the ARD TV program Das Herbstfest der Volksmusik. The album L'amour was released in March 2012, and in 2015 she released Die Ultimative Best of , a mix of old and new songs. The album reached number 7 in the German charts, number 44 in the Swiss charts and number 2 in the Austrian charts. The studio album Ich würd' es wieder tun was released in April 2016, followed by the album Tabu in May 2018, which entered the German charts at number 4. Michelle released the studio album Anders ist gut in 2020, followed in 2022 by the anniversary album 30 Jahre Michelle - Das war's... noch nicht! The album reaches number 6 in both Germany and Austria and lands at number 12 in Switzerland. At the beginning of July 2024, Michelle releases her 17th studio album Flutlicht. The longplayer climbs to number 2 in Germany and Austria and reaches number 10 in Switzerland.
