The sun is generous for trees and men. Without stopping, it warms and feeds us. Mankind needs its light to face a darkening future in which its warmth, in reaction to our irresponsible actions, sometimes become stifling.
It was therefore natural for Wailing Trees, a band whose roots are in Vienne, France, to get inspired by this star, venerated by men in olden days. It is from its essential strength that the 7 musicians grew their most accomplished project yet : Insert sun.
Insert Sun is an invitation to join an ideal world : like the “insert coin” of arcade games, the Wailings are calling us to add light in our lives to nourish positive thoughts. As an arcade machine needs a coin to be brought to life, the Earth relies on the sun to make every morning rise.
But to enhance the music, the rays alone are not enough and you must sometimes create some contrast by letting different music genres meet and even collide within songs. A clear choice, almost an initiation, by which Wailing Trees wanted to link different musical aesthetics. As the light spectrum made out of all the colours, the music of Wailing Trees mixes sounds as diverse as reggae, neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz and world music.
For each album, Wailing Trees has tried to innovate, to offer its own reggae, through the loud personalities of each single member, showing through what inspires them in their everyday lives. The World Go round, a true questioning on the meaning of life.
Change We Need, an alarming cry for help in a world which needs to evolve and finally Insert sun, a utopia in which Mankind would take its destiny back into its own hands.
Inserting sun is also shining a new light on our daily life. The lyrics of this last opus are the results of a lot of introspection. The goal of the songs is to shake certitudes and melt different realities together. Led by a smooth and poetic writing, heartwarming choirs and crackling brass, Wailing Trees is delivering us with an album full of energy and hope. This album will make you smile until it makes you laugh listening to Kaitaia -the last track of the album - a collaboration with Didier Super.
