Biography

Canadian group Danko Jones, is a hard rock band from Toronto, Canada, known for their skilful fusion of intense rock styles, spanning from the heavy rock reminiscent of AC/DC to punk, blues, and metal. Established in 1996 by Danko Jones himself, along with Scaltro (John Calabrese) and Gran Sfigato (Michael Caricari), the band quickly developed a following with their electrifying stage presence, opening for prominent bands in the north-eastern United States and Canada. After some time, the trio released a self-titled EP in 1998, taking the stage at various Toronto venues, before independently producing the EP titled My Love Is Bold, unveiling popular single "Bounce," earning them a Juno Award nomination in 2000 for the Best Alternative Album category. In 2002, they unveiled their inaugural full-length album, Born a Lion, before embarking on various European and Canadian tours, notably securing the opening slot for The Rolling Stones during the kickoff of their 40 Licks World Tour at the Palais Royale in Toronto on August 16, 2002. The year 2003 marked the release of We Sweat Blood, seeing the group adopt a more robust, hard-rock sound and after successful tours across Europe and Japan, Danko Jones subsequently released a string of successful albums including Sleep Is the Enemy (2006), Never Too Loud (2008), and Below the Belt (2010) which produced “Full of Regret,” the band’s highest-charting single to date, landing at number 5 on the Canadian charts, and 34 in the U.S as well as number 12 single “Active Volcanoes”. Together with new drummer Rich Knox, the group delivered Fire Music in 2015, seeing lead single “Do You Wanna Rock” climb to the 8th position on the Canadian rock charts Wild Cat in 2017 as well as self-produced record A Rock Supreme in 2019, Power Trio in 2021 and Electric Sounds in 2023, which included the track "Good Time," which reached number 45 on the Canadian Billboard charts.
