Justin Vernon is an American singer, songwriter, and musician born as Justin DeYarmond Edison Vernon on 30 April 1981 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He achieved professional recognition as the founder of the indie folk ensemble Bon Iver (2006). After the end of the ensemble DeYarmond Edison, he recorded the debut studio recording For Emma, Forever Ago (2007) while isolated in a cabin. The recording reached number 64 in the United States and number 42 in the United Kingdom. Vernon achieved professional recognition for the track “Skinny Love” (2008) which reached number 21 in Australia. In 2008 he signed with the labels Jagjaguwar and 4AD. His discography included the extended play Blood Bank (2009) which reached number 16 in the United States. He achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Bon Iver (2011) which reached number 2 and received the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. Vernon received the Grammy Award for Best New Artist (2012). His recording career included the studio recording 22, A Million (2016) which reached number 2 and featured the tracks “22 (OVER S∞∞N)” (2016) and “10 dEATh bREasT” (2016). He achieved professional recognition for the studio recording I, I (2019) which included the tracks “Hey, Ma” (2019) and “Faith” (2019).
