Biography

Porter Robinson is an electro-house DJ and synth-pop songwriter who scored his first hit with 2012's "Language." He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 15, 1992, and began crafting his own songs at 12 years old. After signing with Skrillex's label, OWSLA, in 2011, Porter Robinson peaked at Number 11 on the US Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart with his debut EP, Spitfire. One year later, he co-wrote Zedd's Grammy-winning single "Clarity" and scored his own international hit with "Language," the latter of which charted at Number 9 in the UK, Number 4 in Scotland, and Number 33 in America. His chart success continue with 2014's Worlds, which marked his full-length debut. The album climbed to Number 1 on the Billboard dance chart and spawned four Top 40 singles, including the gold-certified "Sad Machine." He earned another gold certification for 2016's "Shelter," a non-album single created in collaboration with the French DJ Madeon. After releasing a self-titled, techno-influenced EP under the alias "Virtual Self" in 2017, he resumed his solo career with 2021's Nurture, another chart-topping smash in America. 10 of the album's 14 tracks cracked the Top 40 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums, with "Get Your Wish," "Something Comforting," and "Look at the Sky" all peaking at Number 12.
