Jessie Reyez

Jessica Reyez, better known by her stage name Jessie Reyez, was born on June 12, 1991, in Toronto, Canada, to Colombian parents. She quickly took up the guitar and then hip-hop dance, and decided to leave Canada for Florida, where a job as a waitress awaited her, along with the dream of a career in music—a dream she pursued by continuing to write and sing, while also participating in the Toronto Remix Project, which supports the development of young artists. After being selected, she collaborated with rapper King Louie, with whom she recorded the track “It Hurts (Selena)” in 2015 . Her first true single, “Figures, ” was released in 2016 and made it onto the Canadian charts (No. 58). This was followed by the EPs Kiddo in 2017 and Being Human in Public in 2018. At the same time, she collaborated with Calvin Harris on “Hard to Love” (2017) and with Eminem, who featured her on two tracks from his album *Kamikaze*: “Good Guy” and “Nice Guy” ( 2018). She is also very active as a songwriter, penning lyrics for artists such as Dua Lipa and Sam Smith. This, however, did not prevent her from continuing her own discography with her first full-length album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, which was released in the spring of 2020. The album, blending pop, rap, and R&B, reached number thirteen on the U.S. sales charts. It features another collaboration with Eminem, who appears on the track “Coffin.” In 2022, she returned with her second album, *Yessie*, produced by Calvin Harris and Pop Wansel. It notably features the single “Forever,” which includes a guest appearance by rapper 6black. In 2023, she teamed up again with Sam Smith and sang on his track “Gimme” ( No. 75 in Canada), included on the British artist ’s album *Gloria *. She also appeared alongside American artist Miguel on the track “Jeans,” which climbed to No. 17 on Billboard’s Top 25 R&B chart. Although it didn’t chart, her third album, Paid in Memories, released in 2025, features collaborations with Big Sean, Miguel, Lil Wayne, and Ari Lennox. Jessie Reyez returned shortly thereafter in 2026 with A Little Vengeance, which peaked at No. 21 on the R&B charts, featuring Muni Long on “Ain’t U Tired?”, Ty Dolla Sign on “Dusty,” as well as Raahiim, Lekan, and D Smoke. That same year, she performed the track “Illuminate” with Elyanna, which appeared on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album.
