Cho Seung-youn (born on August 5, 1996), also known as Luizy and WOODZ, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, rapper, and producer. Following a brief tenure as an aspiring football player in Brazil during his teenage years, Cho decided to move back to South Korea to pursue a career in music. After auditioning for several entertainment companies, he was finally hired as a trainee for YG Entertainment. Cho made his official debut as the main rapper for UNIQ in 2014 but the group was soon put on hold due to tensions between China and South Korea. In 2016, after participating in the TV rap competition Show Me The Money, Cho released “Baby Ride,” his first single under the pseudonym Luizy. Subsequently, he collaborated with R&B singer Sophia Pae on the track “Always,” and made his debut behind the console under the WOODZ moniker, co-writing and producing songs for EDEN, Jun, and Babylon in 2018. That same year, he teamed up with AOMG's Cha Cha Malone to record and release singles “POOL” and “DIFFERENT,” also released under his new WOODZ alias. Cho was also briefly a member of the short-lived boy band X1, put together during the 2019 reality show Produce X 101, which disbanded after a controversy over suspicions of vote manipulation. At the turn of the decade, the rapper came back with EQUAL (2020), a collection of uplifting songs inspired by contemporary R&B and urban pop music that peaked at Number 4 on South Korea’s Gaon Album Charts after selling 60,000 copies.
