1966 fans

Les deux Parisiens qui forment Donovan en 2007 ne paient nullement un tribut au chanteur écossais, vétéran de la scène folk. Ils tirent leur nom du personnage principal de la série télévisée V.

David Saïd et Nicolas Nekmouche sont surtout fans de groupes comme Daft Punk ou Justice. Après s'être fait la main sur une tripotée de remixes de Bob Sinclar à Sébastien Tellier et Something A La Mode, le duo est signé sur le label Citizen de Vitalic et publie le single « Wonderland ».

A l'automne 2009, Donovan sort un premier mini-album intitulé Chord, constitué de six titres originaux dont le morceau-titre et quatre remixes de « Yo ! », dont un signé Black Strobe.
