Samra

The son of Lebanese parents, Hussein Akkouche, alias Samra, was born on January 15, 1995 in the Berlin district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf. Thanks to various features on Alpa Gun's LP Zurück zur Straße , the rapper first came to the attention of a wider audience in 2016. However, not only fans, but also the German label landscape cast an attentive eye on the newcomer at this time. As a result, Samra signed a record deal with Bushido's MC forge Ersguterjunge in 2017. Akkouche soon found a musical home here, where he translated his aggressive, energetic flow, paired with dark MPC beats and nostalgic samples, into his first number 1 singles such as "Cataleya" (2018). However, Samra parted ways with Ersguterjunge in spring 2019 and released his music via Urban Records from then on. With Capital Bra, who had already turned his back on Ersguterjunge, the collabo LP Berlin lebt 2 was released in October 2019. The album went to number 1 in the entire DACH region and also won a gold record in Germany. Tracks from the album such as "Tilidin", "Nummer 1", "110" and "Zombie" also catapulted to the top of the German singles charts. It is hardly surprising that Samra and Joker Bra won a number of awards this year, including Best Hip-Hop Act at the 1 Live Krone. Hussein Akkouche then released his first solo album Jibrail & Iblis in 2020, which, peppered with luxury brand references and authentic street stories, reached the top of the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With this gigantic success behind him, he announces the first signing of his self-founded label Cataleya Edition in 2021 with Ano. In "Augen überall" ("Eyes Everywhere"), Ano delivers a remarkable guest contribution on Samra's second studio album Rohdiamant (2021), which is another commercial success. The collabo album Cataleya Ed1tion followed in 2022 together with Anonym and Bojan. The rapper then released one single after another, including "Ich liebe dich" (2023) with Sido and "Karma " (2023) with Mero. Samra also released the EP Dunja in 2023. A new studio album, Kareem, is not released until July 2025. The album climbed to number 2 in the German charts and also reached the top 10 in Switzerland at number 8. In Austria, the album reached number 69.
