Fritz Weber

Fritz Weber was a German composer, musician, and bandleader born on 24 January 1909 in Cologne. He achieved professional recognition as “Der singende Geiger”. Weber achieved professional recognition for a musical career that began after studying at the Rheinische Musik-Akademie and assembling an orchestra at age 19. His recording career included a contract with the label Deutsche Grammophon (1936). Weber served as a soldier during World War II and achieved professional recognition for leading a swing band while in American custody (1945). He achieved professional recognition for his compositions in the Cologne carnival tradition. His discography included the track "1900 Johr steiht uns Kölle am Rhing" (1950), the track "Ich bin ene kölsche Jung", and the track "Ach, wär ich nur ein einzig Mal ein schmucker Prinz im Karneval". Weber achieved professional recognition for performing until 1983 and receiving the Ostermann Medal. He died in June 1984.
