78 Saab, an Australian rock band formed in Canberra during the summer of 1995-6, consisted of Ben Nash (vocals and guitar), Jake Andrews (guitar and vocals), Garth Tregillgas (bass and vocals) and Nicholai Danko (drums and percussion). The group's name was spontaneously chosen for a band competition at the Australian National University. After winning the competition, they recorded their debut EP Eastwards By Removal in 1997. Their breakthrough came with the release of "Whatever Makes You Happy" (1998) and the EP Hello Believers (1999). The band's first full-length album, Picture a Hum, Can't Hear a Sound (2000), received significant airplay on Triple J, with notable tracks including "Sunshine" and "Smile". In 2010, they released their fourth album, Good Fortune. After nearly two decades together, 78 Saab disbanded in late 2012.
