Biyografi

After relocating to New York City in 2010 the Canadian jazz trumpeter and vocalist Bria Skonberg continued her musical studies under the tutelage of the famed American horn player Warren Vache. It marked a turning point in Skonberg's career and she has gone on to co-found the New York Hot Jazz Festival and record her most critically acclaimed albums including 'Bria', released in 2016 and 'With a Twist' released in 2017. 'With a Twist' garnered a coveted Juno Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album.

Skonberg comes from the city of Chilliwack in British Columbia and began her musical studies whilst still in elementary school, initially learning the piano but subsequently switching to the trumpet during her teenage years. She went on to study jazz trumpet at Capilano University in Vancouver graduating in 2006. Since making her home in New York, Skonberg's reputation and stature within the city's jazz community has grown and her talents are constantly in demand. As well as her solo appearances she has performed with artists of the calibre of guitarists Bucky Pizzarelli and Howard Alden and the legendary trombone player Wycliffe Gordon.
