Josh Turner (born on November 20, 1977) is an American country music performer who overcame a throat ailment to become a popular entertainer with several Number 1 singles, albums, and awards nominations. Born in South Carolina, he sang in church as a child and formed a gospel group called Thankful Hearts. After college and a year off to recover from a lesion on his vocal cords, in 2004 he appeared at the Grand Ole Opry singing his own song “Long Black Train,” which went to Number 13 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs Chart. His debut album of the same name reached Number 3 on the Top Country Albums Chart and he continued to perform at the Opry and tour nationally with his music, making occasional appearances on the Christian Chart. His 2006 singles “Would You Go With Me” and “Your Man” topped the Country Singles Chart and the Grammy Award-nominated album Your Man (2006) went straight to Number 1 on the Country Albums Chart. His follow-up album, Everything Is Fine (2007) reached Number 3 on the Country Albums Chart and Haywire (2010) peaked at Number 2, aided by the hit singles “All Over Me” and “Why Don't We Just Dance,” both of which topped Billboard’s Country Songs Chart. More success followed with Punching Bag (2012) and Deep South (2017), which met the same fate as their predecessors. In 2018, he released the gospel-themed I Serve a Savior, accompanied by a 90-minute concert DVD. Preceded by the title track single, Country State of Mind saw the light in 2020, featuring guest appearances by Chris Janson, Maddie & Tae, and Runaway June.
