Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol are an alternative rock band who were founded in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland. The band currently consists of Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar, born June 15, 1976 in Bangor, Northern Ireland), Nathan Connolly (guitar, born January 20, 1981 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) and Johnny McDaid (keyboard, guitar, born July 24, 1976 in Derry, Northern Ireland). Their musical style encompasses the genres of alternative rock, indie rock and post-Britpop. Their breakthrough came in 2003 with the album Final Straw, which reached number 3 in the UK charts and contained the hit single "Run". Their follow-up album Eyes Open (2006, number 1 in the UK) brought the band international fame, particularly through the success of the song "Chasing Cars", which reached high chart positions in several countries and remains one of their best-known songs to this day. Other successful top 10 albums by the band include A Hundred Million Suns (2008, number 2 in the UK) and Fallen Empires (2011, number 3 in Germany). After a short creative break, Snow Patrol returned in 2018 with the album Wildness. Once again, the band stormed the international top 10, including in the UK, Germany and Switzerland. It took another six years before The Forest is The Path is released in September 2024. Snow Patrol has received numerous awards, including the Meteor Music Award and the Ivor Novello Award. Their album Eyes Open has been certified platinum several times. The band is known for their melodic, emotional songs, which are often used in television series and films. Major awards include the Meteor Music Award for Best Irish Band and the Ivor Novello Award for the most played song on the radio ("Chasing Cars"). Their musical influence and chart success have made Snow Patrol one of the most significant British bands of the 2000s.
