Biyografi

Fronted by charismatic songwriter Florence Welch, Florence + the Machine is a British indie rock act celebrated for global hits like "Dog Days Are Over," "Shake It Out," and "Spectrum (Say My Name)." The daughter of academic scholar Evelyn Welch, Florence Welch had a troubled childhood and turned to music as a coping mechanism. She began playing with her friend Isabella Summers under various band names before the pair settled on Florence + the Machine. Their debut album Lungs arrived during the summer of 2009 and became a multi-platinum success, reaching Number 1 in the UK and Number 14 in the US on the strength of singles like "Dog Days Are Over," "Rabbit Heart (Raised It Up)," and "You've Got the Love." A second album, Ceremonials, was released in 2011, debuting at Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart and Number 6 on the Billboard 200. The album featured "Spectrum (Say My Name)," whose subsequent remix (which found the band collaborating with DJ Calvin Harris) became their first Number 1 hit in the UK. Welch collaborated with Harris once more, lending her vocals to his single "Sweet Nothing," which also topped the UK charts. The band's third album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, was released in 2015, followed by High As Hope in 2018. "Hunger," the latter album's most popular single, became another transatlantic hit, becoming Florence + the Machine's fifth single to reach Number 1 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart. After contributing songs to the soundtracks of Game of Thrones and Cruella, the band returned the top of the UK Albums chart with Dance Fever in 2022.
