Boris Giltburg is a Russian classical pianist praised especially for his renditions of works by Sergei Rachmaninov. He followed his 2016 recording, 'Rachmaninov: Études-tableaux, Op. 39; Moments musicaux' in 2017 with 'Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No. 2; Études-tableaux, Op. 33' playing with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Carlos Miguel Prieto. The Presto Classical website quotes the Observer newspaper calling him "a natural Rachmaninov interpreter" and Gramophone magazine saying he is "that genuine rarity: a pianist whose Rachmaninov is entirely idiomatic yet intensely personal in a way that yields fresh perspectives on this well traversed repertory".
Born in Russia he grew up and remains based in Israel from where he travels the world performing with orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony, Deutsche Radiophilharmonie, Prague Symphony and DSO Berlin. He garnered international attention with his performance with London Symphony Orchestra in 2007 and he toured China that year and America in 2009. He plays regularly with the Jerusalem Symphony and he has been artist in resident at the Cheltenham Festival in England. He made his recording debut in 2006 with 'Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition; Scriabin, Prokofiev: Piano Sonata' and his other albums include 'Schumann: Carnaval; Davidsbündlertänze; Papillons' (2015), 'Beethoven: Piano Sonatas No. 8 'Pathétique', No. 21 'Waldstein' and No. 32' (2015) and 'Shostakovich: Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 2; String Quartet No. 8' (2017) with trumpet player Rhys Owens and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vasily Petrenko, which went to number 16 on Billboard's Classical Albums Chart in 2017. That year, he also released 'Dvorák: Quintets Op. 81 & 97'.
