Starting off their careers with twin sister roles in Aussie children's shows, Jessica and Lisa Origliasso (born December 25, 1984 in Albany Creek, Queensland) had their first taste of the music business when as teenagers they released three teen pop albums. However, it wasn't until they were older that the girls started writing and singing seriously, notably when Jessica received a guitar on her 18th birthday. The twins formed the band Teal, released their first single "Baby It's Over," which boosted their reputation as songwriters, and penned songs for a number of high profile international performers including Russia's Tatu and Japan's Miz. But when they moved to Los Angeles and changed their name to The Veronicas they were finally signed as a group in their own right. The sisters released their debut album The Secret Life Of... in 2005 and found major success in their home country where it went quadruple platinum, spawned three Top 10 singles and earned the duo nominations in three categories at the ARIA Awards: Best Pop Release, Highest Selling Album (best-selling album) and Best Breakthrough Album. Their follow-up album Hook Me Up (2007) – a spiky mix of punk-pop, dance-pop and electro-pop – also proved popular back in Australia, going multi-platinum and spawning international hit "Untouched." Their third self-titled album came seven years later – with the first single, "You Ruin Me," debuting at Number 1 on the Australian Singles Chart and becoming their second Number 1 hit in the country – and featured appearances from Butch Vig, Nellee Hooper, Daniel Johns and long-time collaborator Toby Gad. The Veronicas took another seven-year break before returning in 2021 with two studio albums: their fourth LP, Godzilla and fifth LP Human.
