Joaquim de Magalhães Fernandes Barreiros, known professionally as Quim Barreiros, was born on June 19, 1947, in Vila Praia de Âncora, Portugal. He is a Portuguese singer and accordionist, known for his contributions to Pimba music. At the age of nine, Barreiros began playing drums in his father's band, Conjunto Alegria, later switching to the accordion. In 1971, he released his first solo LP Acordeão, followed by Povo Que Canta in 1974. These early albums featured Portuguese folklore classics and marked the beginning of his career. Throughout the 1980s and beyond, Barreiros released numerous albums including Bacalhau à Portuguesa (1986), A Garagem da Vizinha (2000), and A Cabritinha (2004). His music, characterized by double entendre lyrics, gained popularity across various demographics. He toured extensively in countries with Portuguese emigrant communities and performed at notable events such as Queima das Fitas.
