Biography

German rapper KC Rebell is one of the country's best-known hip-hop artists. He was born Hüseyin Kökseçen in Turkey on January 26, 1988, and is of Kurdish descent. He began his rap career along with fellow MC PA Sports when the two men founded the duo SAW and released the album Kinder des Zorns (2008). Contractual issues with their label Shazy Records eventually led to a parting of ways and, after releasing one further single titled "Grausam" in 2009 with PA Sports and Manuallsen, KC Rebell decided to go solo and signed for the rap label Life Is Pain. His first solo album Derdo Derdo was released in 2011 but failed to make an impact on the charts. The follow-up Rebellismus (2012) spent a week at Number 33 on the German album listings. It wasn't until a change of label to Banger Music that KC Rebell’s fortunes began to change, and he has since enjoyed a succession of Number 1 albums, including Rebellution (2014), Fata Morgana (2015), Abstand (2016), and Hasso (2019). His notable singles have included "DNA," "Alleen," and "Quarterback." KC Rebell has had a public feud with rapper Xatar and in typical rap style, the two men have traded insults and released tracks detailing their hatred of one another. In 2016, events became more serious when Xatar was alleged to have been involved in the attempted murder of one of KC Rebell's friends. No charges were brought and the two men have retracted their previous insults. Following the release of a collaborative effort with Summer Cem titled Maximum III and a handful of non-album singles during 2020, his 2021 track “Gelebt” cracked the Top 10 of the German Singles Chart. The single was included in KC Rebell's eighth studio effort Rebell Army, which climbed to Number 4 in Germany. Featured on the album was also "100 Km/H," a haunting drill-tinged track that entered the German charts at Number 39.
