Ty Segall

Born in Laguna Beach (June 8, 1987), California-born Ty Segall is passionate about garage rock and the psychedelic rock of the 1960s, which he brought up to date with his homonymous debut album in 2008. Endowed with an inexhaustible energy, the guitarist and singer multiplies his collaborations and personal recordings: Lemons (2009), Melted (2010), Goodbye Bread (2011) and Twins (2012) were all opportunities to invade stages after their release. After Slaughterhouse, released as Ty Segall Band, he released Sleeper (2013), an album of ballads reflecting his eclecticism. He returns to electricity and fuzz guitar tones on Manipulator (2014) and Ty Rex (2015), a tribute to one of his influences, Marc Bolan's band T.Rex. In 2016, between limited-edition singles, Emotional Mugger was released, ahead of a second album of the same name, recorded with producer Steve Albini and his new band, The Freedom Band. The same musicians officiate on the following album Freedom's Goblin (2018). Surprisingly, the next album, First Taste (2019), was recorded without guitar and reached No. 13 on the independent album chart. Segall composes music for The Opposition with Jordan Klepper and Klepper series, before delivering a free album of covers during the Covid-19 pandemic, under the name Segall Smeagol. Returning in 2021 with the Freedom Band for Harmonizer, he composed the soundtrack for the documentary film Whirlybird, then signed solo Hello, Hi (2022), recorded at home. Two years later, in a neo-psychedelic vein, he released his fifteenth opus, Three Bells, followed by Love Rudiments in 2024 and Possession in 2025.
