Biography

Juaquin James Malphurs, aka Waka Flocka Flame, is an American rapper born in Queens in New York City. He first rose to fame with his single 'O Let's Do It' in 2009 which features on his debut album 'Flockaveli'. The album went in at number six on the Billboard 200 and hit number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts.

In 2011, he released collaborative album 'Ferrari Boyz' with Gucci Mane which included the single 'She Be Puttin On'. The single featured fellow rapper Slim Dunkin, who was killed in the same year after a shooting at a recording studio in Atlanta. His second studio album, 'Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family', arrived in 2012 and included the single 'Round of Applause' featuring Drake. In between recording albums, he released an extensive list of mixtapes, including collaborations with Slim Dunkin, French Montana and Southside.

In 2013, controversy began surrounding the rapper when he was let go from 1017 Brick Squad Records, causing a rift between him and former friend Gucci Mane. In 2014 he appeared in the VH1 reality show spin-off 'Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta' with his wife, Tammy Rivera. His third studio album, 'Flockaveli 2', was released in 2019.
