Walid Georgey (January 10, 1995), who goes by the name Maes, is a French rapper from the Parisian suburbs of Sevran. He started rapping at the age of 14 and formed the rap trio MSR with Radmo and SY3. After a brief stint in jail between 2016 and 2017, he released his first mixtape Réelle Vie in 2017, followed by Réelle Vie 2.0 in 2018. The success of his second mixtape helped Maes secure a recording contract with the Millenium label, a subsidiary of Capitol Music France. Propelled by the chart-topping single “Madrina” with fellow rapper Booba, his studio debut Pure arrived in 2018 and quickly cracked the French Top 5, making him a force to be reckoned with in the Gallic hip-hop scene. Further success ensued with his sophomore effort Les Derniers Salopards, which snatched the top spot of the French charts in 2020. A year later, Maes teamed up with Booba once again for the single “Platine o Plomo,” included in the third installment of his Réelle Vie series.
