Von Wegen Lisbeth

Formed in 2006 under the name "Fluchtweg," Von Wegen Lisbeth is a German indie rock band whose major label debut album, Grande, was released in 2016. Bassist Julian Hölting, singer Matthias Rohde, keyboardist Robert Tischer, guitarist Dominik Zschäbitz, and drummer Julian Zschäbitz launched the band as seventh grade classmates in Berlin. The friends continued to perform together throughout high school, then released their first EP, Promo 2012, in 2012. After touring with another German rock act, AnnenMayKantereit, Von Wegen Lisbeth released the follow-up EP Und plötzlich der Lachs in 2014. The band then signed with Sony Music and recorded a full-length debut album, Grande, which reached Number 25 on the Official German Chart in 2016. One year later, Von Wegen Lisbeth won the "Young Talent Award" during the 2016 German Music Authors' Prize. A second album, sweetlilly93@hotmail.com, arrived in 2016 and fared well not only in Germany, where it reached Number 14, but also internationally. sweetlilly93@hotmail.com peaked at Number 19 in Austria and Number 30 in Switzerland, and Von Wegen Lisbeth visited both countries while touring in support of the album's release. A document of that tour, Von Wegen Lisbeth - Live in der Columbiahalle, was released by Columbia in 2020. EZ Aquarii, the band's third studio album, followed in 2022 and climbed to Number 11 in Germany, becoming Von Wegen Lisbeth's most successful release to date.
