Biography

Wig Wam is a glam metal band from Halden, Norway. Formed in 2001, its lineup consists of lead singer Åge Sten “Glam” Nilsen, guitarist Trond “Teeny” Holter, bassist Bernt “Flash” Jansen, and drummer Øystein “Sporty” Andersen. Much like other Norwegian revival acts from previous decades such as Turbonegro and Gluecifer, Wig Wam combines the rock trends of the 70s and 80s with humorous lyrics and over-the-top stage personas. During their early days, the group made a name for themselves through their electrifying live shows and relentless work ethic. Their rapid ascent to stardom began in 2004 when their studio debut 667.. The Neighbour Of The Beast became an overnight sensation in Norway, leading to an appearance in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. The band participated with the song “In My Dreams,” which placed ninth in the competition but became a chart-topping hit in Scandinavia. Subsequent releases like Wig Wamania (2006) and the live album Live in Tokyo (2007) consolidated the band as one of the finest rock’n’roll acts in Europe. Non Stop Rock'n Roll, their third album, arrived in 2010 and reached Number 3 on the VG-Lista as the band opened for longtime heroes KISS at their show in Oslo. Following the release of Wall Street in 2012, Wig Wam went on indefinite hiatus, only to return in 2021 with the album Never Say Die. In 2022, their song “Do You Wanna Taste It” was featured on the HBO show Peacemaker.
