Biography

Already heralded as one of the biggest names in Canada's Christian rock community for his work with the band Starfield, frontman Tim Neufeld formed a new group, the country-influenced Tim and the Glory Boys, in 2013. He was born on April 7, 1976, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he formed Starfield at his hometown church in 2000. The group proved to be enormously popular, winning multiple Covenant Awards — Canada's equivalent of the American Dove Award — and releasing five full-length albums. After the group took a hiatus in 2013, he released a solo album, Trees, and formed Tim and the Glory Boys with Colin Trask, Matthew Izaguirre, Jon Bryant, and Jon Mushaluk. Inspired by bluegrass, country, and roots music, Tim and the Glory Boys debuted in 2014 with The Joy, which received a Juno nomination for "Contemporary Christian and Gospel Album of the Year" in 2015. Although he returned to his solo career for the release of Trees - Chapter 2 later that year, he continued to play with the Glory Boys, too, and released the band's second album, Hootenanny!, in 2016. Hootenanny! won the 2016 Juno Award for "Contemporary Christian and Gospel Album of the Year," and the band was named "Group of the Year" at the GMA Covenant Awards that same year. Tim and the Glory Boys released a number of singles during the following years, including "Blessed" in 2019, "Right Back Atcha" in 2020, and "Last Christmas" in 2021.
