Icon, an American rock band, was formed in 1981 in Phoenix, Arizona by Dan Wexler (guitar), Stephen Clifford (lead vocals), and Tracy Wallach (bass). Initially known as Ice, they evolved into Schoolboys and released the EP Singin' Shoutin' in 1980. In 1984, after signing with Capitol Records and changing their name to Icon, they released their self-titled debut album. The band's subsequent release, Night of the Crime (1985), was produced by Eddie Kramer and featured songwriter Bob Halligan Jr., but Clifford left during its production. Icon regrouped with new vocalist Jerry Harrison for Right Between the Eyes (1989) and disbanded in 1990 following a tour. The band reformed in 2008, reissuing their 1984 Bootleg Concert on DVD and opening for Tesla at the Dodge Theatre.
