Auf Tour im Frühjahr 2024
VAN HOLZEN are back - "And vomit as far as I can" sings singer Florian Kiesling on the first single "Schlafen" with similar attitude, with which the band confront the masters of this world at least since its inception in 2015: Competitive morality that leaves only losers behind.
A circumstance that the alternative rock band in 2021 still feels obliged to propagate. VAN HOLZEN do not want to repeat themselves - Quite the opposite: At the latest with the release of the single "Gras" it becomes clear that here, together with the aforementioned predecessor and "Biss", a new chapter in the band's history is to be heralded.
Founded as a classic rock line-up, Florian Kiesling, Jonas Schramm and Daniel Kotitschke can now identify with many genres. The emotionality and energy that characterizes rock music can be found more and more in new music of popular genres in modified forms. And so VAN HOLZEN gain their inspiration from pop, rap or indie music and unfold it with the help of the rock toolbox to a unique and versatile sound that knows how to surprise beyond the supposed genre boundaries. In any case, the songs arise primarily from their personal feelings that grow in them when looking at a world full of injustices, disasters and their challenges. Songs in which the band finds an outlet for their strongest emotions: Fear, doubt, anger, but again and again hope, understanding, mindfulness, (self-) love, the focus on the good and the strengthening of it.
Perhaps it takes a privileged place like Ulm, the hometown of the threesome, to get a reflected, critical view from afar on the events and conditions of the world and society. Because for VAN HOLZEN it is clear: In a diverse world, in which people are more and more connected with each other and at the same time isolate themselves more and more, it also needs many different expressions and valves, for different people, with different feelings.
After a good five years of band history with over 300 concerts played, including three headlining tours, nominations and awards, two studio albums "Anomalie" (2017) and "Regen" (2019), including placement in the top 50 of the German Control charts, VAN HOLZEN in 2021 are still in their early 20s, but now know very well what they want and what not. So the band takes over many parts themselves and gets in small teams only those people who speak exactly their language. Manual work is more time-consuming - but worth it. So basically exactly what they have always expressed in their music: artistic freedom instead of dependence, in a close circle instead of in the big machinery, with each other instead of against each other - "I dream of life that no one rules."
On 11/12/21 Van Holzen release their third album "Aus der Ferne", which they recorded together with Kidney Paradise as producer in the band's own "Studio Valachai".
