In 1975, tensions between The Jackson 5 and Tamla Motown boss Berry Gordy led the group to change labels and continue their musical adventure under the name The Jacksons, then including Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Michael and newcomer Randy in place of Jermaine. At a time when disco was dethroning soul, the group experienced a resurgence in success thanks to the rise of Michael Jackson's solo career. Then at the height of his popularity with the albums Thriller (1982) and Bad (1987), his departure in 1989 was fatal for the family group. Following The Jackson 5's tenure with Tamla Motwon (1969–1975), The Jacksons' run for Epic spanned a dozen years and six studio albums, including the hits "Show You the Way to Go" (1977), "Blame It on the Boogie" (1978), "Shake Your Body" (1979), "Can You Feel It" (1981), and "State of Shock" (1984). In 1989, The Jacksons reunited in the studio for the album 2300 Jackson Street before disbanding. The group returned in 2001 for two concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City in honor of Michael's 30th birthday. He died on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50. Three years later, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon reunite for a new world tour, followed by exceptional concerts. On September 15, 2024, Tito Jackson dies at the age of 70.
