The Aces were a pioneering Chicago blues ensemble formed by brothers Dave Myers (born 1926) and Louis Myers (born 1929), who came from Byhalia, Mississippi. They first performed as The Little Boys before recruiting Junior Wells and Fred Below, eventually becoming The Aces. In the early 1950s they joined Little Walter and recorded hits such as “Mean Old World”, “Sad Hours”, “Off the Wall”, and “Tell Me Mama”. Mid-decade lineup changes brought Robert Lockwood Jr., Luther Tucker, and Odie Payne into Little Walter’s band, while the Myers brothers re-emerged in the 1970s, touring and playing the 1972 Montreux Jazz Festival with Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry. Dave Myers later founded The New Aces.
