Biografia

Eva Correia José Maria (September 17, 1951), better know as Evinha, is a Brazilian singer who rose to prominence in the early 60s as one-third of doo-wop and soul act Trio Esperança. Formed in 1958 by Evinha and her siblings Mário and Regina, the group enjoyed great popularity during the Jovem Guarda era and released a series of successful albums such as Nós Somos o Sucesso (1963), A Festa do Bolinha (1966), and O Fabuloso Trio Esperança (1968), after which Evinha left the group to launch her solo career. In 1969, she won the Festival Internacional da Canção with the song “Cantiga por Luciana” and made her official debut with the full-length Eva 2001. Throughout the 70s, Evinha scored a couple of hits with the singles “Teletema,” “Que Bandeira,” and “As Canções Que Você Fez Para Mim,” included in her 1973 eponymous LP. Towards the end of the decade, she joined Paul Mauriat’s orchestra, with whom she toured Japan and China. During the 90s, Evinha reunited with Trio Esperança and recorded the albums A Capela do Brasil (1992), Segundo (1995), and Nosso Mundo (1999). That same year, she unveiled a new album titled Reencontro, which featured re-recorded versions of her biggest hits. Subsequently, Evinha issued the LPs Evinha - Uma Voz, Um Piano (2016) and Evinha Canta Guilherme Arantes (2019), a tribute to the famed Brazilian composer.
