American composer Alan Silvestri is one of the most influential and commercially successful film score composers of modern times. His work has featured in some of the best-known Hollywood films of the past 40 years and his name has appeared in the credits of blockbusters such as 'Romancing the Stone' (1984), 'Back to the Future' (1985), 'Predator' (1987), 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' (1988) and 'Forrest Gump' (1994).
Silvestri is a New Yorker by birth and after studying music at the Berklee College of Music got his first break at the age of 21 when he was commissioned to write the soundtrack for low-budget action film 'The Doberman Gang' (1972). He went on to become the main composer for the hit TV series 'ChiPS' before meeting up with film producer Robert Zemeckis who asked him to write the score for 'Romancing the Stone'. It marked the beginning for Silvestri of an incredibly successful film music career during which time he has written the music for all of Zemeckis's films.
In recent years Silvestri has contributed music to big-budget films such as 'Captain America: The First Avenger' (2011) before going on to score further films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as 'The Avengers' (2012), 'Avengers: Infinity War' and in 2019 'Avengers: Endgame', in which Silvestri worked as composer, conductor and score producer alongside Mark Graham.
