Country music singer, songwriter, and musician Billy Currington was born on November 19, 1973, in Savannah, Georgia. Interested in country music at a young age, while he was in high school, he auditioned for a spot at Nashville, Tennessee-based theme park Opryland. Although he failed the audition, he still moved to Nashville after graduating from high school. While working in the food industry, he recorded his first songs and began to attract label interest. Signing to Mercury Records in 2003, the released his self-titled debut album that same year. The album’s first single, “Walk a Little Straightener,” reached Number 8 on the Hot Country Songs chart. He collaborated with Shania Twain on her single, “Party for Two,” which was released on her 2004 Greatest Hits collection. Billy Currington’s platinum-certified second album, Doin’ Something Right, was released in 2005 and reached Number 2 on the Country Albums chart. The album featured his first Number 1 hit single, “Good Directions.” Billy Currington won a CMT Award for Hottest Video of the Year for “Must Be Doin’ Something Right.” After some delays, his third album, Little Bit of Everything, was released in 2008 and reached Number 2. Two of the album’s singles – “People Are Crazy” and “That’s How Country Boys Roll” – reached Number 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Billy Currington’s next album, Enjoy Yourself (2010), was his most successful yet, reaching Number 2 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The album included two Number 1 Country singles: “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer” and “Let Me Down Easy.” The album was followed by We Are Tonight (2013) and Summer Forever (2015), both of which continued his commercial success. After a prolonged break of six years, Billy Currington returned with the album Intuition, which proved to be a radical change in musical direction and showcased his love of dance music and R&B.
